Need help to find your perfect soloist or duo?

If you’re not quite sure where to start with finding the perfect live wedding ceremony music for your big day, then we’re here to help. Here’s answers to some of our most frequently asked questions...

How much does a solo or duo music act cost in the UK?

For wedding & function soloists, we’d recommend a starting price of around £300. At this price, you’re ensuring that your musician is a professional with the requisite skillset and equipment to perform at any wedding venue in the country. Keep in mind that this is a starting price, and some acts will cost more than this. Professional music duos wstart at around £500.

For loads more information on how much wedding entertainment costs and what you get for your money, check out our in-depth Tailored Guide on how much you should pay for your wedding band.

What do solo and duo music acts provide for their fee?

As standard, a Tailored Entertainment soloist or duo booking includes...

  • Two hours of live music split into sets to suit you (usually over a 4 hour period on site).
  • Suitable amplification.
  • PAT Testing and PLI Insurance (required by all UK wedding venues).
  • One special song request of your choice.

You also get our 5-star Tailored Entertainment customer service. From your first enquiry right through to the big day itself, you’ll have a dedicated booking agent on hand to answer any questions or arrange any last-minute changes. This kind of peace of mind can make all the difference in the lead-up to your wedding day!

Will musicians travel outside of their base location?

Yes! Our soloists and duos regularly travel to perform at weddings and events right across the UK and abroad. If your event is taking place more than 30 miles from an act’s base location, they will ask for an additional fee to cover travel costs - this will be included in the quote we provide you.

How do I book a musician for my wedding?

First off, take a look through the Tailored Entertainment roster of professional musicians and shortlist any acts that you are keen on. Once you've made your shortlist you can submit that to us – you’ll be asked to provide your contact details, and then one of our booking team will get in touch with you to chat through options and how to progress. If you’d prefer, you can just give us a call on 0800 564 2240 to get the ball rolling with finding your perfect live music act.

Are there any extra costs I need to think about when hiring a musician?

The price you see listed on the musician’s profile is our guide price. This is the average amount that it will cost to book them. However, there are a few things that might affect the final cost of booking your live entertainment. For example, travel distance – the band’s guide price is based on them performing at local venues (usually within 30 miles of their base). If your wedding venue is further away than this, there will be a travel fee added to your quote.

There are a few other things that might increase the cost of booking your live music. If you would like the act to arrive early/stay late then this will incur an extra fee, and if you decide to book any of the act's ‘optional extras’, these will also incur an extra charge.

For more information on this, give our team a call on 0800 564 2240. We’d be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Can I pick the songs my musician performs?

On every soloist or duo’s profile, you’ll find their specific repertoire of music. We suggest that you take their repertoire into consideration when booking your entertainment, and make sure that you like plenty of the songs on their list. When you book your act, we’ll ask you to go through this list and highlight your favourites, so the act can keep those in mind when putting the sets together for your event. You can also use this time to identify any songs you wouldn’t like to hear, too.

All our acts also offer to learn one special request (a song not listed on their repertoire) as standard with your booking. Lots of people use this for their aisle walk or first dance, but you can also just choose a song you love to go into the main set.

Can someone help me pick the right musician?

If you’re struggling to find the right wedding or event musician for you, we’d be more than happy to help! It’s helpful to think about the kind of music you like to listen to and choose an act that fits with that style. If you’re still not sure, give our expert team a call and we can suggest a few acts you might like based on your preferences, location, and budget.

Will the musician provide insurance certificates such as Public Liability Insurance and PAT Testing certificates?

In many event venues Public Liability Insurance (PLI) and PAT Testing Certificates (documentation that ensures all electrical items are safe) are an essential requirement from bands and musicians. Every one of our musicians carry up-to-date PLI and PAT Testing Certification in line with wedding venues guidelines, meaning when you book a Tailored Entertainment wedding act, you’ve nothing to worry about.

I’m planning a ‘location wedding’ abroad. Can I still book a Tailored Entertainment musician?

Absolutely! Tailored Entertainment represents some of the UK’s very best international entertainment. Our musicians regularly travel overseas to perform at weddings and parties right across the world. Understandably, the way that international bookings are priced can be quite different to domestic gigs. You can read loads more about this in our Tailored Guide on booking overseas wedding bands, or you can call our expert bookings team for more information.

What different styles of solo and duo musicians can I book?

Our musician roster covers all the most popular styles, with something to fit everyone’s tastes. We’ve got solo singer guitarists that are popular for their laid back, contemporary feel. We’ve got romantic duos that make a great addition to wedding ceremonies. We’ve got stunning instrumentalists, perfect for setting an air of refined sophistication.

If you don’t know where to start, its useful to think about the kind of music you love and find a band that fits. You can use our search function to fine-tune your choices a bit!

Will my musician be prepared to stay late/arrive early?

Yes! The musician’s standard fee is based on four hours onsite (for example, midday arrival, 4pm finish). For an additional fee, all our acts are willing to arrive earlier or stay a bit later to suit your wedding day’s schedule.

My venue has a noise limiter. Can I still book a musician or band?

Typically speaking, noise limiters present no issue whatsoever to our soloists and duos, as they can easily keep below the volume required to trigger it. One less thing to worry about!
