Thursday 1st December 2016
Happy December everyone!
It’s the first of the month, which means we can officially start playing the Christmas tunes. Hooray! So crack out the mince pies and pop on a bit of Slade (‘IT’S CHRIIIIIISTMAAAAAAS!’) because t’is the season to be jolly.
All of our live party bands love to chuck in a couple of Christmas classics during the festive period, so we thought we’d put together our top 5 favourite Christmas tunes, played by our bands throughout December to really get you chanelling the Christmas spirit.
5. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday – Wizzard
Simply the best Christmas singalong! We just love this song by ultimate glam-rockers, Wizzard and couldn't agree more with the sentiment!
4. Do They Know It’s Christmas Time – Band Aid ‘84
When the Band Aid super group was put together in 1984 to raise money for the Ethiopian famine, the record became the fastest selling single in UK chart history and over £8 million in the first 12 months of release for the charity. And not only is it a huge charity success for an amazing cause, it’s also an amazing tune with a powerful message – to not forget those in need at Christmas time.
3. Fairytale of New York – The Pogues feat. Kirsty MacColl
Who doesn’t love this tune?! With Shane MacGowan’s unmistakeable gravely voice to Kirsty MacColl's perfect performance it's no wonder that 'Pop Matters' named Fairytale of New York as a modern classic.
2. All I Want For Christmas is you – Mariah Carey
Be honest now, whether you’re at home putting up the Christmas decorations or whizzing round your local off-liscence collecting the festive drinks, when this song comes on, your inner diva in unleashed and you belt out that chorus like no one’s business!
1. The Christmas Song – Nat King Cole
The ultimate Christmas song. When the fire is roaring, the Christmas jumper is on, the mulled wine is stewing and you’re listening to Nat King Cole, you know Christmas is finally here. From all of us here at Tailored Entertainment… “Although it's been said many times, many ways….Merry Christmas to you” x
