Unless you’re a professional coordinator or stylist – you’ll probably find planning your wedding a little overwhelming! The following 12 months after your partner pops the question will be a winding road of lace, tulle, peonies and supplier meetings, but fret not people! Our friends over at Adorn Wedding Invitations have put together the ultimate planning timeline from your engagement party to the moment you say “I do” and everything else in between! Their industry insider tips and tricks will also help you save your pretty pennies as well as your sanity.
The only budget formula you’ll need
You’ll want to make sure that you have some cash left after the honeymoon is over. So set a budget and stick to it!
46% - 45% of the total budget goes to the reception
8% - 10% on flowers
8% - 10% on attire
10% - 12% on photo/video
10% - 15% on your wedding band
2% - 3% for invites / 2% to 3% percent for gifts
8% on miscellaneous items like a wedding coordinator
Keep an extra 5-10% of your budget tucked away for any extra expenses like reprinting additional invites or dress alterations.
Floral arrangements and place settings can be a large expense and for something so beautiful, you don’t want to be wasting them! Both can serve a dual propose as a personalized take home gift for your guests.
Preparation is the key
Being prepared and organized won’t only make your life easier, but your vendors and suppliers will be eternally grateful. There’s nothing that irks a vendor more than a bride showing up completely unprepared. For example, when going to order your invitations and enclosure stationery, make sure you have the following information at the ready!
Who is inviting (bride and groom / bride’s parents / groom’s parents or both parents)
• Venue ceremony and reception details
• Starting times of the ceremony and reception
• RSVP date (ask you venue when they need numbers, then add a week)
• Wishing Well / gifts / or registry
• Reception Card – reception details (transport, map, additional required info about parking or venue restrictions)
Make a day of it
Lastly, the number one tip that we can offer our brides is to have fun and relax! Whether you’re attending your cake tasting, or a makeup trail – just enjoy the moment! This is all a once in a lifetime experience, a positive mindset and faith in your chosen professionals will make all the difference in the world.
