Ellie Goulding songs are always a popular choice for wedding bands in Surrey to play, but this may be as close as fans get to a live performance of her tunes for a while as she has announced she is taking a break from music.
Earlier this month (March 10th), the British singer sent out a tweet to her more than six million followers saying she is planning to have some respite from the industry.
“I am not quitting music, I’ve come too far for that! Just having a break. It’s been seven years since I had time off,” the Love Me Like You Do star tweeted.
Reassuring fans this was not the last they were going to see of her, she simply explained she needed some time out after three albums and six tours.
Since she launched her career in 2009, she has been a constant on the UK albums chart with her successful records Lights, Halycon and Delirium.
Her tunes have been huge hits at weddings over the last seven years, with the likes of How Long Will I Love You, Explosions and her cover of Elton John’s classic Your Song often being requested by brides and grooms.
Perhaps her exit from the music industry has to do with her own love life, as Goulding revealed she recently broke up from her boyfriend McFly bassist Dougie Poynter.
After two years together, the pair called it a day, with the split thought to be the result of the pair constantly being separated by work commitments.
Indeed, the 29-year-old singer is currently on the road with her 2016 Delirium world tour, which will see her perform all over the UK, Canada, America, Europe, New Zealand and Australia over the next few months.
