Sometimes wedding entertainment doesn’t just mean booking an amazing live wedding band - it’s down to everything from a theatrical meal to a hilarious best man’s speech. However, with modern ceremonies breaking traditions left, right and centre – could the idea of the best man be on the way out?
Well, according to the Daily Mail, it’s not the bridal parties that have had their day – but the idea of bridesmaids and groomsmen. The new trend is mixed bridal parties – including bridesmen and groomswomen, so that the people the happy couple really want to have a special role in their big day truly have the chance to do so.
Of course, both men and women often have close friends of the opposite sex or special members of their family, and often they end up being left out just because of their gender. The bridal party can be a bit of a relationship minefield at the best of times, but in the last year, the Daily Mail reported that mixed bridal parties are becoming more and more popular.
In the past, brothers and sisters have often been included in the party of their soon-to-be brother or sister-in-law, but without the limits of gender on your bridal party, brothers can become chief bridesmaids and sisters become best men. Best friends can be included too, no matter whether they’re male or female.
Though these instances are now much more common, they’re still in a minority. So, when you’re planning your big day – why not make a bold move and mix up your bridal party?
